Interesting, I have 3.24, but was running 3.23 of course, and never saw
this behavior. Do you have any special initialization code or setup?
Here I cannot reproduce this behavior at all.

I updated to version 3.24.2+dfsg-1 and I get exacly the same returns from the same commands.
Have you an idea of what missing package could contain the module "dukpy" ?

Hi Norbert,

I had a problem with Qt on my machine: every Qt apps returned a segfault.
Now I fixed it (sudo apt-get remove qt5-style-plugins) and Calibre works fine.
As the segfault informations were not very clear, I hoped that the return of the command "calibre-debug --test-build" would inform me better.
But finally, I was lead into error with the return of this command.
Now I still get the same error, but the missing module doesn't prevent Calibre to work.
It looks like it is rather a warning than an error.
Ideas about that ?

THere is none, it is not packaged by now.
I am simply wondering why the program starts at all on my computer ;-)
I definitely don't have any dukpy on my computer.

How do you start calibre? Do you have any special arguments or
configurations?

Ah, ok.

When, where? Here on my machine:

$ calibre
qt5ct: using qt5ct plugin
qt5ct: D-Bus global menu: no
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile

qt5ct: D-Bus system tray: no

and all fine ...

Sorry here is what I meant:

If I run Calibre with the launcher or with the command line, now it works fine.
But if I run the following command:
$ calibre-debug --test-build
it still returns the same "error":
File "/usr/lib/calibre/duktape/__init__.py", line 15, in <module>
    import dukpy
ImportError: No module named dukpy

It's looking for dukpy, "a simple javascript interpreter for Python
built on top of duktape engine without any external dependency".
https://pypi.org/project/dukpy/

Dukpy might be unsuitable for Debian if "dukpy is currently not
production ready and might actually crash your program as it is mostly
implemented in C." is true, but it would take time to establish
whether it meets the minimum standards of quality/reliability...
