Hi Dave We're trying to clean up some of the less maintained code in emacs-goodies-el (and repackage the rest). It will help us decide what to do if you can let us know if you are still actively using and maintaining rfc-view.el. I noticed it hasn't had an update since 2009, and that some bug reports from a long time ago don't have any response. There is of course no obligation for you to maintain rfcview; we all have to prioritize things. All the best, David
You wrote: Do you mean "rfcview" (as it looks from apt show), rather than "rfc-view" (which is probably something else)? If so, I use it occasionally, and it works to that extent. Where are the bug reports -- in debbugs?
user debian-emacsen@lists.debian.org retitle 903703 replace rfcview.el with elpa-rfcview usertag 903703 elpafy quit Dave Love <dave.love@manchester.ac.uk> writes: Correct, sorry for the typo. And glad to hear it is still in active use. It sounds like we should repackage rfcview as an independent package. By the way, there was a request in Debian for sb-rfcview.el https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=648703 Is that something you'd be interested in maintaining? Perhaps it might make sense to bundle those together in the same release / VCS repo. Yes, you can find them here https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?dist=unstable;include=subject%3Arfcview;package=emacs-goodies-el There is nothing very urgent there. I only mentioned the bugs because the lack of response made me wonder about the state of the package.
Hi Dave, I took the liberty to remove rfcview.el from goodies, marked it as elpafied, and added a dep elpa-rfcview that can be uncommented whenever this package is elpafied. If it wasn't merged upstream it's likely you'll want to retain (and rename) 50_rfcview.diff, so for your convenience here is a link to the most recent surviving copy of it: https://salsa.debian.org/emacsen-team/emacs-goodies-el/raw/21d3accaca567404a130c58a51f963fe7283692b/debian/patches/50_rfcview.diff Cheers, Nicholas
Hello! So just to confirm: Dave Love is the upstream maintainer for rfcview and we still need a Debian maintainer for the elpafied package? If so, we ought to reassign this bug to wnpp and make it an RFP or ITP. Cheers, Nicholas
Nicholas D Steeves <nsteeves@gmail.com> writes: Yes, probably an RFP at this point. d
Hi team (especially new members), David Bremner <david@tethera.net> writes: Almost two years (and one missed release) later, we're still looking for someone to package and maintain rfcview: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=903703 Cheers, Nicholas
