When running with needs-root, $AUTOPKGTEST_TMP will be owned by root and
have permissions 0755. This means, that only root will be able to use
it. But as a temporary directory it should be possible for any user to
use it. Thus, please adjust permissions to 0777. Maybe also consider
setting the sticky bit (1777) like it is done with /tmp.

Thanks!

Hello,

Bug #909534 in autopkgtest reported by you has been fixed in the
Git repository and is awaiting an upload. You can see the commit
message below and you can check the diff of the fix at:

https://salsa.debian.org/ci-team/autopkgtest/-/commit/b2d4e5373c98850bcf68233182ddc213f1ee3931
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Create AUTOPKGTEST_TMP outside the testbed scratch directory

Allocate a directory under /var/tmp and use mode 1777 so other testbed
users can write to it. Keep it outside scratch, which may be shared with
the host (which is a security problem with world-writable directories).
Being in /var/tmp, AUTOPKGTEST_TMP with survive testbed reboots.
