xdg-desktop-portal's package description says
xdg-desktop-portal is designed to be desktop-agnostic, and uses a
desktop-environment-specific GUI backend such as xdg-desktop-portal-gtk
 to provide its functionality.

Should xdg-desktop-portal recommend the virtual package
xdg-desktop-portal-backend?

xdg-desktop-portal-kde in Testing now provides that virtual package,
but xdg-desktop-portal-kde was never backported to Stretch.

I see that Debian's Flatpak has this so maybe we should just copy it:
Recommends: xdg-desktop-portal-gtk | xdg-desktop-portal-backend

By the way, I filed https://bugs.debian.org/915115 to propose that
meta-kde install the KDE backend by default.

Thanks,
Jeremy Bicha

I don't think it should, because that would be a circular Recommends
(Depends in one direction, Recommends in the other) which would prevent
x-d-p and its backends from being cleaned up when unused.

I think packages that *use* xdg-desktop-portal, such as Flatpak, should
be the ones responsible for doing this.
