* Package name : fontbakery Version : 0.7.9 * URL : https://github.com/googlefonts/fontbakery * License : Apache-2.0 Programming Lang: Python 3 Description : Font quality checker Fontbakery is a tool to check common issues of fonts for quality assurance. I would like to introduce the package for the autopkgtest for fonts, and this package should be under maintenance of Debian Fonts Task Force.
This seems like a really cool plan :-) Out of curiosity will it also detect suboptimal rendering for a font if/when new freetype/fontconfig versions make changes to how fonts arerendered? (P.S. sorry that I don't know if these new font types use libfreetype or something else) Thanks! Nicholas

Hi, It checks some parameters of a font file, like unit size, weight, and name etc. It does not check how it is rendered afaik. However, if such phenomenon can be recognized as a font parameter, it is possible that we write a test for such check. Yao Wei

Hello, My name is Paulo (kretcheu) [1] I want to help in efforts to put Fontbakery at the Debian archive. I was working on some dependency packages. ## ITPs ### commandlines https://bugs.debian.org/1004969 ### glyphsets https://bugs.debian.org/1004942 ### glyphtools https://bugs.debian.org/1004991 ### sre-yield https://bugs.debian.org/1005076 Packaging is not all ready yet, but you can see the state of work at: ## Repos: https://salsa.debian.org/kretcheu/sre-yield https://salsa.debian.org/kretcheu/glyphsets https://salsa.debian.org/kretcheu/glyphtools https://salsa.debian.org/kretcheu/commandlines [1] https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=kretcheu%40gmail.com Thanks kretcheu :x
Hi, Are you still working on fontbakery? It's a dependency for fonts-shantell-sans that im currently packaging. Is it fine if I take over? I'm in the Debian fonts team and i can maintain it under the team namespace.
