On most of my directory/directory comparasions, kdiff3 latly fails on me
by showing an incomplete error dialog and then locking up.
I've not figured out on what files/data etc. it chokes actually, but this is one way to
reproduce on my machine:

apt source darkradiant
debcheckout darkradiant
kdiff3 darkradiant/ darkradiant-*/

I could get it not showing the error when changed the directory settings "file
comparasion mode" from binary comparasion to something like check the
date and filesize option; anything with binary comparsion fails.

(I'm running kdiff3 on Gnome. but a quick test on plasma showed the same
behaviour. I'm used XOrg for the test, but it happens also on Wayland.)

Hi, we can confirm the error and the workaround also on version 1.7.90 (Debian
10).

Dear Maintainer, we can confirm the bug looks solved upgrading to Debian 11
(that use kdiff3 1.8.5-1) ...
