In derivative distributions, you want to provide customized artwork and
you want that artwork to be used consistently. But you don't want to waste
space to store the Debian artwork.
Thus I would like to package separately:
- the various integrations that you provide that make many software use
the desktop-base alternatives
- the actual data files providing those alternatives
The integrations could be provided by desktop-base itself, but it would
depend on "desktop-base-debian | desktop-base-data". desktop-base-debian
would be the other binary package that you provide with all the artwork
registered in all the alternatives.
That way in Kali we can ship our own package providing "desktop-base-data"
and not waste 10Mb for Debian artwork.
Cheers,
