I've found a bug when using LibreOffice Calc in combination with the KDE
plug-in.

When I try to save a CSV file, the option "Edit filter settings" of the
"Save As..." dialogue box is disabled (greyed out). But, instead, it
should be enabled.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a new empty document.
  2. Choose the option "File → Save As..."
  3. In the "Filter" selector, choose "Text CSV (.csv)".

Workarounds:

  1. Uninstall "libreoffice-kde5" (and "libreoffice-kde", just in case),
and install "libreoffice-gtk3" instead. The GTK3 plug-in works fine.

I've searched in the bug database of LibreOffice, and it seems that this
bug already came up in past versions. It was fixed back then. Check
this: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72187 . There
is a newer comment of someone who uses KDE Neon and suffers from the
same bug again, in 2019.

Right now, I can't test the latest version distributed by LibreOffice or
the version from Debian Backports. So I don't know if it has been fixed
upstream.

That makes no sense. libreoffice-kde5 in buster is gtk3 plugin disguised
as "gtk3 + a kde5 filepicker".
Only later versions like in backports have a native kde/qt plugin.

So the bug is not in the plug-in but the "kde5 file picker"

For KDE4, yes.

Hi:
The reason why I submitted this report against "libreoffice-kde5" is
because other check-boxes in that same file chooser work fine with
LibreOffice (i.e. "Encrypt with GPG key"). That led me to think that the
blame was in the way that the file chooser is used by this plug-in (or
pseudo plug-in) instead of in the widget itself. To me, that makes sense.
Right.
I said "right now", when I wrote the report ;-) . I'll try the
back-ported version when I finish some urgent tasks. I will report back,
of course.

If the bug is in the KDE file chooser and not in "libreoffice-kde5", I
think that the newer version of LibreOffice from Debian Backports won't
help. Because the KDE file chooser comes in a package apart and it's the
one that should be upgraded to have the fix. Unless that native plug-in
that you mention includes its own file chooser/picker. I guess that I'll
find out when I try it...

I've made a break and have tried the version of LibreOffice from Debian
Backports. The check-box works fine now. But the only packages that have
been upgraded are those relative to LibreOffice, none from KDE Framework 5:

Will the fix be back-ported to the version of Debian Buster?

OK, as guessed.

I haven't said that the bug wasn't in LibreOffice. I have said that the
version of libreoffice-kd5 in buster is substantially different in
buster to what is later and that the plug-in you mentioned is actually
gtk3. It just has a filepicker part for KDE.

Doesn't look too important. Maybe annoying but... At least looking for
the actual fix could be interesting... (If it involves changing from
gtk3_kde5 to kde5 as what is contained in libreoffice-kde5 it is simply
a no-go.)

In that case, I guess I'll have to stick to the backported version. For
me, it's an important feature.

I've no experience diving into such big code bases (and zero experience
with C++), but when I've some spare time, I'll try to check how they
fixed it.
