Description :

New Session Manager (NSM) is a tool to assist music production by grouping standalone programs into sessions. Your workflow becomes easy to manage, robust and fast by leveraging the full potential of cooperative applications.

It is a community version of the "NON Session Manager" and free in every sense of the word: free of cost, free to share and use, free of spyware or ads, free-and-open-source.

You can create a session, or project, add programs to it and then use commands to save, start/stop, hide/show all programs at once, or individually. At a later date you can then re-open the session and continue where you left off.

Dependencies are: liblo (OSC library), FLTK 1.3, JACK Audio Connection Kit (runtime)
Build system is meson.

This software already has been packaged for

Fedora http://rpms.remirepo.net/rpmphp/zoom.php?rpm=new-session-manager
Archlinux https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/new-session-manager/
KXStudio https://kx.studio/Repositories:Applications
Ubuntu (Studio) approved, WIP

Hi Nils,

Thank you for filing this RFP :-)

[snip]

Actually, libjack-jackd2-dev is a build-dep ;-) Preliminary packaging
was fairly painless, and upstream already fixed the causes of 1.4.0's
ftbfs with gcc-10 (maybe everywhere?) so I cherry picked that commit
as a patch, along with a memleak fix.

It would be more responsible for me to finish working on reintroducing
Hydrogen first, but it would be nice to package something fun and
satisfying (and useful!) so I'm considering formally adopting this
RFP. As far as I can tell, the only work that remains on my WIP copy
is the copyright review and testing. Oh, and checking to see if there
are any self-tests that could be run in autopkgtest.

I would be maintaining the package on the Multimedia Team, and I will
need a sponsor for the initial upload.

Best,
Nicholas

Dear colleagues,

Just a side note: new-session-manager is too broad naming for the package.
It will surely confuse users not willing to read documentation (which is unfortunately the majority)

Maybe, packaging names like nsm-* should be considered?

PS: I did not check the mentors queue, just noticed the mailing list entry describing the RFP.
