The testsuite should be enabled. Currently, it is disabled:

This should not be too hard to a new comer.

Was going through some newcomer bugs and felt I could contribute here.I
have enabled buildtime tests and have opened a Merge Request[1]. Please
review and suggest changes if required.

I was able to build the package without errors and tested it using sbuild

The MR !4 was incorporated in version 4.3.0-1, however in the following version 4.4.0-1 the tests were disabled again — replaced by a simple # Todo fix that comment — and this remains the case up to the current version 4.12.1.
