It would be great to have tailscale in Debian!

I asked upstream tailscale, but it looks like they won't do it
themselves: https://github.com/tailscale/tailscale/issues/7847

Anyone else up for packaging it?

thanks

I'm refraining from packaging tailscale for Debian.
I ITP'ed without looking further, as I was excited to hack it during the going on Debconf.

Status:

 - Among its direct dependencies, 39 will need to be packaged.
 - I had a quick look at them, and many will have extra dependencies to be packaged as well.
 - Then I looked at the upstream view on a official Debian package for tailscale and got some extra discouragement:

https://github.com/tailscale/tailscale/issues/7847#issuecomment-1503731931

All in all, I wish good luck to the brave one who takes on this job.

I have a local packaging of this (albeit with a few features turned off) [1].
It is NOT ready for debian, but it does work. I also need to build the library
files for headscale, so this is not going to just be a leaf package.

I just noticed [2]. Is this doing anything?

Depending on how much vendoring is allowed, this could be relatively easy (i.e.,
just a matter of getting the copyright file fully filled).

Best,
Antonio

Hi.

Just stumbled up on this during a discord chat.

Tailscale exists in the extrepo package
https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=extrepo

which in its turn puts in tailscales official repo into the your sources
https://salsa.debian.org/extrepo-team/extrepo-data/-/blob/master/repos/debian/tailscale.yaml
