Here's a minimal patch which uses plain debhelper, and getting rid off cdbs.
Tried to patch as less as possible as a first step.

Now that 10.1 migrated to testing, I'm uploading that patch to DELAYED/5. I'll
check for regressions, and if the package looks ok, I'll provide a second patch
for the packaging cleanup.
