Please link against OpenSSL. OpenSSL is considered as a system library
so there should no license restriction, see #924937.
I started to rebuild against OpenSSL almost a year a ago and I didn't
any downside. It connects quicker but I didn't track the reason for it.

support of GnuTLS. We should check the status with the upstream
project.

I asked the upstream project about OpenSSL and GnuTLS:
They *should* work identically. The maintainer haven't heard any
problems with either in a while.

What about a neomutt-openssl binary package?

IMHO there would have to be a strong compelling reason to have *both*
in the archive, to overcome the drawbacks of having both: much more
complex packaging, more user confusion about which to install, etc.

Another thing to look at would be, how many open TLS bugs are there
and would using ssl resolve them? I haven't checked, but I did just
file a bug (no number yet) which is related to gnutls and the expired
LE certificate root.
