Some days ago, I discovered, that the internal path variable
%{syslog_local} in fail2ban's config is set to /var/log/messages by
default. For the Debian package of fail2ban, shouldn't this be changed
to /var/log/syslog? This would be a Debian-specific change.

If you, as the maintainers, agree, I can file a PR upstream for this, too.
