Dear Maintainer, Due to this change, the "Xsane" menu in GIMP 2.10 has disappeared. https://jff.email/cgit/xsane.git/commit/?h=debian/0.999-12&id=951161a767be3f1d83bad23ba42bda79881a2ab6 After reverting the commit and compiling the package, the "Xsane" menu is returned to its place. Perhaps this is critical for GIMP 3.0 (), but now even in SID we have GIMP 2.10.
This patch may fix the problem. https://gitlab.com/sane-project/frontend/xsane/-/commit/fd895d45ed21fef3cb6ce244507443f80357c02d
I am replying to this bug just to note that it now affects the current stable distribution. I upgraded from bullseye to bookworm in the last few days and the Xsane menu entry vanished. It is clearly a long-running issue; it would be nice if a fix for bookworm could be implemented. In my case it is particularly annoying as xscanimage in bookworm crashes with a segfault. I am off to look for the apropriate package to report this. Hugh Pumphrey The University of Edinburgh is a charitable body, registered in Scotland, with registration number SC005336. I am just adding to this bug to note that when I upgraded to trixie (and hence Gimp 3.0) there is still no menu item for xsane in gimp. Hugh Pumphrey
I have documented workarounds at https://daniel-lange.com/archives/195-Getting-scanning-to-work-with-Gimp-on-Trixie.html You have the choice between a Python script by Lee Yingtong Li (RunasSudo) or compiling the latest upstream which has the Gimp 3.x compatibility patches. I hope a new upstream xsane will be made available some time later via trixie-backports.
