Dear Maintainer,

Apparently, some fundamental changes to input/output switching and data
processing were made in Pulseaudio 15.0.

These changes have made microphone input unusable for me, on at least two
separate computers with very different audio hardware. A common trait of both
audio devices seems to be a switchable input source.

On these devices, I no longer get any useful input from either the built-in
microphone or an attached headset. Not all audio hardware seem to be affected,
I also tested a USB microphone, which still works fine. Output devices seem to
be unaffected as well.

The data received from the broken input devices seems to be noise or no signal
at all, but I'm not 100% sure.

The corresponding ALSA input still works fine and it doesn't seem to be a
kernel issue either. I tested both 5.10 and 5.14. The problem is the same.

Downgrading Pulseaudio to 14.2-2 fixes it for me.

Is there anything I can that would help pinpoint the issue?
